I live in Scarboro and want a cheap visit to see King Tut and Terracotta Army in london and a spare day.?

Anyone got any ideas for cheap trip for two.

  1. Save your money and just look at all the weird people in Peasholme park instead.
  2. There are cheap train and bus fares to London these days, and plenty of interesting places to stay - try a hostel near the city centre.
  3. Check out Metrobus to get to London, then stay at any St Christopers hostels in London. (£10.00 a night)
  4. Train is probably easiest, but won't be cheapest.

Ha! never mind Peasholme park... look at all the oiks around old town and trafallgar square!!!
  5. A return for two on a week day will cost about £38,

    trains are a lot dearer.
  6. If you go on the train and book at least 7 days in advance you can get tickets for £12 return. You have to book seats (free of charge) and have to stick to the trains times you agree on. but it is a very good service - this is with Virgin.

On the motorway services I have seen big red buses that advertise 'travel from anywhere in the country to London for £1' but cannot remember the name of the company.
  7. The cheapest way to travel is always bus www.nationalexpress.co.uk or www.megabus.com. Failing that you can often get apex fares on trains www.nationalrail.co.uk or www.thetrainline.co.uk.

Be aware that tickets for the Terracotta army are selling fast so you will need to know when you are going to buy tickets for both events in time. terracotta army tickets are sold via the british museum website. The King Tut is on at the O2 centre (used to be the millennium dome) and if you were doing both in one day I would allow a minimum of an hour travel between the two destinations as they are very far apart. Prob best to do the O2 one first as transport back in the evening can be problematic esp when concerts are on at the same time but the british museum is staying open late for the teracotta army. You can also find loads of restaurants round that area to eat afterwards.
  8. I tried to get tickets for King Tut - earliest available were for February and that was a couple of months ago! Staying in London is not cheap. All I can suggest is look on the internet and see if you can find a cheap student hostel or the like. They are not all dumps!

If you are going in Winter you might also find some cheap deals - get hunting.
