Can I get Help Planning a trip to Orlando Florida?

Myself and two other friends of mine are planning a trip to orlando florida for 8 days 7 nights starting in early august (2 of which are airport days). Do you have some suggestions, either simple or elaborate, of what parks are the best to see, what hotels are cheap but a good deal, and where to eat?

We were thinking that 4 of the days would be parks, and the other 2 would be rest days. We are all 19 years old.

So from experience, can you share some insight to help us out?

  1. First thing is the hotel if you are on a budget i would stay away from Disney hotels and hotels on international Dr. They are some cheap hotel by them park that are good like Comfort Inn and Best Western on major blvd. The parks Universal would be #1 in my book, you can get the 2 days 2 park tickets and they also have city walk which is a nice hang out place for all ages, Disney is a nice park also, downtown Disney not as good as city walk. You can also go downtown Orlando they have a lot of night clubs down there for 18 and up. I love Sea world too great place. Fun spot is great if you love to play games, Old town is also a good place to go. If you like old cars a great place to go. To eat Dixie Stampede is great lots of fun, Medieval times great place to eat a lot of fun if you order VIP seat you can be in the show. Volcano bar & grill is a great place to eat,. Kim Wu Chinese restaurant great place also. There is alot to do here this just a couple of ideals
  2. You bet! Be sure to visit http://www.easybreezyplanning.com

There you can sign up for a free Disney E-newsletter, read up on fun tips and advice, watch fun Disney movie previews, purchase discounted Disney park merchandise and receive assistance with planning your Disney vacation! Have a wonderful trip!
  3. If you are flying and planning to rent a car, consider doing 2 hotels. Start at Disney, in one of the value resorts (All Star) without a car, and take advantage of their free transportation...you'll save more on the car than you'll spend extra on the room, plus you can package your tickets and get a discount on them too! You will probably want to hit Downtown Disney for the shopping and Planet Hollywood or the Rainforest Cafe at least one night anyway. Then pick up the car and move to a less expensive place around the International Drive area near Universal and Sea World. Lots of fun stuff for 19 year olds to do in this area, but you'll need the car.

On one of your "rest" days...think about driving over to Coco Beach. It's about an hour away...lots of fun places to eat and shop, plus plenty of public beach with changing places scattered around...a very budget friendly day... and cute beach bums to look at!! You can even see the shuttle launch from there...it's scheduled for Aug 7 but watch for changes!!
  4. If it is your first time, I strongly suggest getting a guidebook and visiting here: http://www.allearsnet.com

Disney is my favorite thing in Orlando, and I also like Universal. You could easily spend 4 days at Disney and stay on-property at one of their value resorts to save some money. You could take advantage of Magical Express, Disney's free transport from the airport (and they will move your bags, too!). Plus, inside the park you could use Disney's free transportation. If you want to be somewhat away from the craziness and don't mind renting a car and driving, you could try the Kissimee area for cheap hotels.
  5. Orlando is definitely the place to come enjoy and have lots of fun! With all of you being 19, I would higly recommend visiting both Universal Orlando parks (Islands of Adventure & Universal Studios). Since you are thinking about doing 4 days of parks, I would say use the other 2 for visiting Disney. However, I would recommend maybe doing 5 days of parks, 3 at Disney and 2 at Universal Orlando, plus, perhaps visitng some night shows, Pleasure Island or City Walk.

Now depending on your budget, then also would be the hotel you would be staying at. However, if you are trying to save as much money, I recommend staying at a hotel in a centralized location such as International Drive. Some hotels in this area offer free Transportation to both Disney and Universal, so you wouldn't have to pay to be transported back and forth. Plus, you would be in a great location close to all the Fun, Dining and Excitement of I-Drive.

  6. ask tripple A auto club for brochures, they might have hotel discounts (or ask family who might have an AAA membership to pick up that for you). Also write the Orlando chamber of commerce (or check their website). Or ask your travel agent who rents the rooms for you what free tickets you can get or discounts. Surely when you arrive at the hotel they will have a brochure case and you can pick and choose what you would like to see. Because you're young I suggest most days you get your food from a grocery store and it it in your room. Believe me "everything" is expensive there. Since you refer to "airport days" I suspect you will be renting a car here as well.

As a rule of thumb .....do NOT get drunk here. There is a saying here that goes "arrive on vacation, leave on probation". You might wonder why people are riding bicycles, it's cause they had their drivers licenses taken away from them.
