What are good day trips to take within 3 hours driving time of NYC?
Besides Jersey, Philadelphia, and Maryland?

7. Delaware County, NY...
- Boston
- Mystic Seaport in Connecticut--they also have an aquarium there. Exit 90 off I-95. The Mystic area in general is very picturesque.
And, Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun casinos are in that area as well.
- You can head out east on Long Island. The north fork will bring you into wine country....every mile or so there are vinyards that you can stop in and do tasting, great restaurants, farmstands and quaint shopping. The south fork will take you through the Hamptons and some of the best beaches around and eventually youll end up in Montauk. On either route you can stop at The Tanger Outlets in Riverhead for some outlet shopping. Its probably the easiet way to have a great day without driving for hours on end.
- I checked Mystic because in ADDITION to that area, not that far away is Newport, Rhode Island. It's VERY scenic and still maintains that colonial feel on the streets there. You have a beach there (Easton's Beach/First Beach) and the mansions along Bellevue Aveue. Ocean Drive is SPECTACULAR as you see the waves crashing along the walls.
Thames Street has all of the souvenir shops and restaurants.
