Trip

Suggestions for day trips from Boston in January?

Any great ideas for something to do or somewhere cool to visit for a day or possibly two over the long weekend this January? Anywhere within driving distance of Boston would be an option.
I'm trying to plan a trip for a group in their mid 20s. One of the girls hurt her foot so skiing or anything like that is out.

  1. Plimouth Plantation is good any time of the year. Sturbridge Village is another possibility. Cape Cod should be deserted and easy to get into all the shops that are swarming with tourists during the summer.
  2. Depends if it's a family event or only adults, I guess. Either way, that's a tough time of year becuase so much of the area's beauty is outside, and in january, it's cold and covered in snow!
  3. Well if you live in Boston, the familar answer is to go to Cape Cod. It's a nice getaway even in the winter, if you go to an area where everything isn't closed for the season. . . .You could go up to the White Mountains or North Conway New Hampshire. If you like skiing, Vermont is also a good option. Stowe VT has some good things to do.
