Summer vacation ideas for a family of 4, drive only, live in NY?
Planning our family vacation and would like some good ideas.
Were a young couple in mid thirties with 2 kids under 5.
Looking to drive from NY, no planes or trains.
Places we stayed already. Wildwood NJ, Cape Cod, Old Orchard, Maine, Sesame Place, Ocean City Maryland.
Our likes, beaches and amusement parks for kids.
Our best family trip thus far was Ocean City & Sesame Place.
Any ideas to similar places would be appreciated but don't want to drive more than 11 hours

- Lake George NY
Mrytle Beach SC
- Busch gardens, Williamsburg- it's atheme park...but thers a waterpark nearby too- Water country USA...and there are a lot oif historical civilation...jamestown, yoorktown, and colonial williamsburg. Loadsm of fun...I used to live around theere, and we'd go every summer. It's about a half day drive- i think
Viginia Beach...about the same distance and lots too do there too.
Washington DC...loads of museums and educational things...but there are plent of way fun things to do.
thats all i can think of now but try googleing east coast tourism or something similar...like mabey "amusemnet parks" and certain cities you might like to visit.
I think your best bet would be williamsburg though...there's something for everyone and since it's only a couple hrs from VA beach you could make a week trip out of it and do both
Good luck and have a fun vacation! : )
- Have you been to Hershey? Love it there - not sure what they have for little kids but a fun time nonethe less.
Storyland in New Hampshire is GREAT for little ones. You may want to spend a night on the way there if the ride is too long. We stay at Fox Ridge when we go there. there are a few hotels closer but that is one that we like all around. If you are daring Mount Washington is nearby too
There's another theme park in Pa that is a big hit with some friends but I've never been there - Dutch Wonderland
I live on Cape Cod and I'm not sure if you experienced the bay when you came. The tide goes out and leaves tidepools - perfect for the little ones
Have fun planning!
- I'd like to mount a campaign to encourage people not to go anywhere. Travel has become so expensive and unpleasant that it's hard to understand why people don't stay home.
Why are we crowding our highways and airports to get someplace else? Newspapers and magazines are filled with ads trying to get us to travel. They want us to go somewhere - anywhere but home.
