- You have to leave from another country!
You can go from the Dominican Republic-Canada and Mexico without going too far out of your way!
Just do a flight online leaving from an airport in one of these countries and the flight will pop up!
If you are an American just ask them in Cuba NOT to stamp your passport or you will be subject to HUGE fines on your return and possible Jail since it is against US law for its citizens to go and spend money in Cuba unless you get special permission via School-Health Care or Family Visit!
- If you are close to Canada. Here's a good site for booking and another site with info. It's a great place. I hope you can do it. Buenos Suertes. I've added two more sites, one on youtube which is interesting, the other for the independent tourist, cuba junky which has lots of info.
- They are very strict when departing even from other countries. Like Cancun is a popular place to leave from as you can get your tourist card right there at the airport. But in coming back you got to be careful as they often use video cameras to see who is getting off the plan and continuing on to the states. So if you go from another country, you should always lay over a day or two in that country before reentering the US.
The only other way you can go legally is on musical, political, medical and journalistically. The only way you can go as a tourist is on a Humanitarian tour which is just like an ordinary escorted tour like you would get if you went to Europe. There are some around. I went on a 'people to people' one 3 years ago and had a great time. Was going to go again last month on a Humanitarian one, but I got a big cruise I may go on in acouple of months. If I don't go, then I will take the tour to Cuba in April as they have one going there, and it is for anyone. Let me know if you want some info on it. I can send you the email address if you like. It is all inclusive of air from Miami, first class hotel, all transfers, tours, meals and a few drinks. It cost around $3,000 per person.
- You will not find any trips to Cuba departing from the USA .....it's against the Law....!!!!
US citizens are not allowed to travel to CUBA unless they have a special licence.
You can be fined up to 10mil $. Check out the Goverment site www.treas.gov.
Having said this , some US citizens travel to Cuba via Cancun or Toronto. It's still illegal but an estimated 100.000 did this.
Inform you well to protect you for unhappy adventures with immigration services.
hope this helps

- I don't reccomend that you travel to cuba if you are american, the political tension of the moment might cause you a BAD experience there. I think you should try another caribean destination like Dominican Republic
- You cannot book via a US website for a reason, the embargo prohibits US companies from doing any business in Cuba. It also prohibits US citizens from traveling to Cuba without a license from the US Treasury Office of Foreign Assets and Control.
- buy a ticket to cuba and so you should save money for your tickets
